Mavis Boamah
I am a PhD candidate at the School of Social Sciences, Film and Media, and Education at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. My current research project attempts to compare experiences of settlement services among young Africans from refugee background with policy. I aim to focus on educational experiences of refugee background students from South Sudan and Ethiopia, the strategies, and resources they draw on for educational achievement and how they define success. I was inspired by this project after my involvement with the African Australian student community as a Leadership Pillar.
With my communication background, I also have special interest in undercover reporting and crisis communication.
